It has been brought to my attention that on slow internet connections, the white background on this blog loads slowly (weird), just leaving the green text on the green leaf wallpaper, which is unreadable.
It’s good to get this kind of feedback – my computer runs pretty fast and I’m usually at home with my top-speed wifi, so I’m largely unaware of this kind of thing.
And I felt like a bit of a change. But at the same time, I was also feeling a little lazy, so I just took the leafy wallpaper out and left it all white.
Believe it or not, sometimes there can be such a thing as too much green! Shocking, I know.
So, what do you all think?
This is how it was:
And this is how it is now (I’ll post a picture for posterity lest I change it and then this post looks random)
I could possibly make it all new and I’m open to suggestions.
Everyone please let me know what you think in the comments! Do you like the new, fresh look? Miss the greeny-green? Have a better idea?
tis much better!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I loved the leafy greens, it didn't usually load very smoothly for me. Occassionally I would be lost in leafy green-ness with no white for the words to sit on. So imo, a good change you've made. Thank you! I do love the green words on white :-) Don't change those!
ReplyDeletewell, of course my teenaged computer was one of the ones that had to wait a minute for the white background - but i almost always have to wait a minute for a new page to load, so i didn't think anything of it. by the way, the green-on-green text may be unreadable to mere mortals, but my super-keen, temporal-lobe-epilepsy-enhanced eyesight could manage it with a slight squint. of course squinting is unbecoming to Ladies so i waited for the white illumination.
ReplyDeletewell, i'm not sure about there being such a thing as too much green, but i'm sure there is such a thing as too much white, and i'm afraid you might be pushing it at this point. yes, it all looks very clear clean and tidy, but just not so majikfaerie.
how about a pale green wallpaper? or some green tendril-y vines growing and trailing down the sides of the pages?
and yes, i am volunteering to draw the artwork myself if it can't be automatically generated. whatever it takes to get it right.
Ohh, thanks all.
ReplyDeleteLady Demelza, I think I will just sit with it for a while... I'm entirely sure I can find some nice pale green with vines kind of thing at some point.
But like I said, I'm feeling lazy. :p
LOVE the new look. I also had the issue of your page loading slowly with the green background and I have pretty fast internet. (300kb/sec)
ReplyDeleteChange is always good and there's nothing better than a minimal design. :-)

Well you know what Kermit used to always say...it's not easy being sheen. Or was it mean? It's not easy being...oh I forget. Whatever it was - he said it. Scream? It's not easy being Habadeen.
ReplyDeleteMajik Faerie do you know about the evils of Wireless technology? AKA Pulsed microwave technology? That many countries are banning it including eg the national library of Paris and other notable institutions? That large groups of scientests are banding together to pressure governements into limiting its use...it's considered the single most threatening man made environmental stress there is. Known for all manner of diseases. Many peoples emotional and physical symptoms clear up the moment they turn off the wireless broadcast in their house. If anyone wants more information email me at bluesaltred@gmail.com including safe alternatives xxoo Ansanity
PS Where the dogs of society howl... I'm going right back to my plough..
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace,
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, Ansanity, I am aware of that...
I like it better without the leaves.
ReplyDeleteI have a new background too, but I like your new wallie (or the white background).
ReplyDeleteWarm regards:-)

Leafy green took a long time to load for me, but I liked it *shrug* :)
ReplyDeleteOn my computer it started all leafy green then the text seemed to emerge from the leaves which was nice. My computer is pretty fancy, new and fast though. Change is good, this is refreshing.
ReplyDeleteTessa
Oh well, I liked it too... but it seems that many people find my usage of greenness excessive.
